Trim Completing the Nursery

So here is the trim as it sat in our basement, drying after Ben's paint job. We were able to get really nice vaneered plywood at a very reasonable cost from the seconds pile at Menards, all things considered trim for the babies room was less than $10 and Ben now has a bunch of leftover wood to play with. Ben and Tim worked hard to make the trim fit into all the odd shapes of the room. The babies room is definitely not level, the settling of the house has created some unevenness, resulting in some challenges, but the boys prevailed. They fit each piece individually. They range from 5.75-6.25 inches in width. Using Tim's super tools they were able to plane down the pieces to the right size, a lot of work, but well worth it. The trim totally seals the lead paint and covers up the pretty slack carpeting job that was done when we moved in.

Timmy has an air nail gun which made installation a breeze. Ben wood puttied over the nail holes and then put a final coat of paint on the trim and painted the top edging yellow as well. The solid yellow border really looks great. Both Tim and I had our doubts, liking the white contrast, but the yellow helped create the illusion that all the trim is the same size. Notice the nice new trim with the fabulous curtains!
