The Dresser Arrived!

So I spent the morning putting drawers in the new dresser and filling it with baby supplies. It is a huge dresser and newborn clothes are really tiny, so of course it isn't full, but now all our diapering needs are within arms reach of the changing station, the closet is less cluttered and we are one step closer to being
ready for this child moving around inside of me. There are three drawers up top, which are great. The cherry wood is stunning and it looks so good in the room. Aunt Jill's painting hanging above the dresser is beautiful. I am so glad that we are able to put it in Little Bud's room and the empty frame, soon to be filled has wood that matched perfectly. With the dresser in place, we are able to see where we would like shelves to be and Ben is going to try and find some cherry wood to make them out of. Still deciding whether or not to find a matching stain or just use oils to enhance the natural color tones of the cherry he finds. We'll see.

Had a tour of the hospital yesterday, the rooms are very nice and the wing was incredibly quiet. Not that I expect labor to be relaxing but the rooms do their best to try and make it so. Plus it is on the 10th floor and you can see out over practically everything in Urbana, not that it's the most beautiful view, but it's the best we got out here in topography free land.
Everthing is good with the baby. We met with Kristy yesterday and she is wonderful. She was great at being honest and very straight forward with answers to our questions, most dealing with vaccinations and stuff. Her answer to the hepatitis B was fabulous. Basically unless your baby will be having sex or sharing needles it is completely unnecessary. Oh and if you don't have gonorrhea or chlamydia there is no need for the eye ointment. Unlike our birthing instructor who said you need the eye ointment because of "stuff down there"
So yes, a good visit, Alicia our doula was with us, baby is still head down, there is no need for an internal check until 41 weeks as far as they are concerned (me too) and things are just as they are... good. Although my hips continue to ache while sleeping.
Happy Weekend!
K
